People who have a positive mindset and who are mostly cheerful, appear to have a better body than those who are depressed and mostly unhappy. It also plays a role how you cary yourself, meaning if you walk upright. Too many people have a bad posture which does not make a good overall appearance.

Depressed and unhappy people don’t do anything to have a great body. They mostly let go. They do not watch what and how much they eat and they are not working out. Their mindset is quite negative and so they perceive their life in dark colors.

People with a positive mindset, who are mostly positive and happy, are health conscious. They watch what they eat, do not overeat, eat more healthy foods and are working out regularly. They do have a better body and they feel good in their body. If you feel good, you perceive yourself in a good light.

This means that when you improve your body image, you will be eating less and more healthy foods, and you will enjoy more working out regularly. You will feel differently about your body and therefore perceive your body differently.

And today too many models are extremely thin. Today a well shaped body, without body fat, but with some muscles are en vogue.

Not anyone has a great proportioned body. Some people have a short torso and long legs. I have this kind of body. Others have a long torso and short legs. I have girlfriends who are as tall as I am, but appear tinier. But I am not certain what makes me appear taller as some of my girlfriends who are as tall as I am. When we are standing side by side in front of a mirror, they say that they thought I am taller. They are holding their body upright. So this did not make the difference. Is it the longer legs or is it how one feels about him or herself?

I used to be training several times a week and had muscles on arms and stomach. It looked great and felt good. When I see women or men with way too much muscles, I dislike that. I think that there must be a certain balance.

Look into a full body mirror and think about what you look like. Think that body image is the mental representation you create. How you see your body might not be how others see you and also this will differ from person to person.

I Have A Great Body

I have a great body, expecially with my age. I am in my mid 60ies. I dislike when some body fat hangs over the waistband. I then try to quickly get rid of that fat with dieting and working out.

My figure is constantly criticized from people who really don’t have a good figure. I am never criticized by people who have a great body. Couple of years ago a friend of my mother, who was overweight, said to me that I am too thin. I answered that my body is fine, but that she is overweight and sees me from another point of view. She said that I am right. Another woman said to me that I am getting thinner whenever she sees me. I asked her if she would say to a woman who is overweight that she is putting on more and more body fat whenever she sees her. She excused. From then on she said to met that I have a great figure. This was a nice compliment for which I thanked her.

60 to 80 percent of people in this world are today overweight. This is the norm. These people see those who have a great body thinner as they actually are. They are putting things into perspective.

You see in this exmaple that not only your body, but also the body from the person who speaks about your body plays a role. Each person has another body image and sees you differently. Whatever other people say about your body, don’t give anything to it


How I See The Bodies Of Others

It is very strange that I am much more disturbed by body fat of strangers as of people I like and of friends. I have some girlfriends who are extremely overweight which I usually don’t see while I speak with them. One of my overweight friends asked me if I can see that she has lost some weight. I had to concentrate looking at her. Well, yes, she had lost a bit. With one of these friends I suddenly perceived how very overweight she is and I found it disgusting. Not her weight has change, but my feelings about her. I began to dislike her out of very different reasons as her body.

As I have mentioned about, I dislike body fat of strangers very much. It happens that I go to a restaurant, sit down, get the menu and then my eyes stop on a fat woman. Suddenly my hunger is gone. Sometimes I am leaving or I am ordering only an appetizer.

This means that how others perceive you, has a lot to do with how they feel about you, if they like you or not. And again: You must not give anything to what others say about your body. It is not only about the body, but the worthiness a person has to you. There is kindness, helpfulness, joyfulness, knowledge, and so much more that is important about a person


Change Your Inside First, The Outside Will Follow

To sum this up, you first have to change the inside, the outside follows. When you change the inside, you will feel differently about your body. As a result you will enjoy watching your diet and do some workout. And voila, your body will change, even though your view about it has changed first. As I am writing in another post: The reality adjusts to you, not the other way round.

First write down how you want that your body looks. Slender, tall, well shaped, with muscles, long well shaped legs. Use your own words and how you want to look and appear to others.

Sit down and relax. Close your eyes and see yourself in a mirror. Put a blanket over the mirror and relax further. Be certain that you have a great body. Its about your impression that makes the difference. Before you take away the blanket, see yourself with the body you want to have. Then remove the blanket and perceive your great body. Repeat this imagination. It will change your body image.
